Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. निर्मुक्तसर्पप्रतिमैश्च तीक्ष्णैस्तैलप्रधौतैः खगपत्रवाजैः ।
षष्ट्या नाराचैर्वासुदेवं बिभेद तदन्तरं सोमकाः प्राद्रवन्त ॥ ३३ ॥
