Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. किं वा त्वं मन्यसे प्राप्तमस्मिन्काले समुत्थिते ।
त्वमस्य जगतस्तात वेत्थ सर्वं गतागतम् ।
तत्तथा प्रकरिष्यामि यथा मां वक्ष्यते भवान् ॥ १३ ॥
