गोवर्धनो रत्न-शिलामयो ऽभूत्
सुवर्ण-शृङ्गैः परितः स्फुरद्भिः
मत्तालिभिर् निर्झर-सुन्दरीभिर्
दारीभिर् उच्चाङ्ग-करीव राजन्
govardhano ratna-śilāmayo 'bhūt
suvarṇa-śṛṅgaiḥ paritaḥ sphuradbhiḥ
mattālibhir nirjhara-sundarībhir
dārībhir uccāṅga-karīva rājan
govardhanaḥ—Govardhana; ratna—jewel; śilā—stones; mayaḥ—made of; abhūt—became; suvarṇa—golden; śṛṅgaiḥ—with peaks; paritaḥ—everywhere; sphuradbhiḥ—glistening; matta—maddened; alibhiḥ—with bumblebees; nirjhara—swiftly flowing mountain streams; sundarībhiḥ—beautiful; dārībhiḥ—with caves; ucca—great; aṅga—body; karī—elephant; iva—like; rājan—O king.
English translation of verse 1.16.15:
Govardhana was made of jewels and had glistening golden peaks everywhere, maddened bees, and caves beautiful with swiftly-flowing streams. O king, it was like a great, gigantic elephant.
