श्री-नारद उवाच
गो-साधु-देवता-विप्र-
वेदानां रक्षणाय वै
तनुं धत्ते हरिः साक्षाद्
भगवान् आत्म-लीलया
śrī-nārada uvāca
go-sādhu-devatā-vipra-
vedānāṃ rakṣaṇāya vai
tanuṃ dhatte hariḥ sākṣād
bhagavān ātma-līlayā
śrī-nāradaḥ uvāca—Śrī Nārada said; gaḥ—of the cows; sādhu—devotees; devatā—demigods; vipra—brāhmaṇas; vedānām—and Vedas; rakṣaṇāya—for protection; vai—indeed; tanum—form; dhatte—placed; hariḥ—Lord Kṛṣṇa; sākṣāt—directly; bhagavān—the Supreme Personality of Godhead; ātma—own; līlayā—by pastimes.
English translation of verse 1.1.13:
To protect the cows, devotees, demigods, and Vedas, Lord Hari, the original Supreme Personality of Godhead, placed His own transcendental form and pastimes in this world.
