Comparative analysis of commentaries and excerpts in English:

[Rising and setting of Dṛk and Smṛti from Kāli denotes Śṛṣṭi and Laya]

In the multitude of manifestation, Smṛti denotes the Prāṇās in Jīva. In Śiva it induces the will to create. On creation, the cycle of efforts (Udyama) starts. Same is the case with Jñāna-Dṛkśakti also. Both lose their identity by merging in Kāliśakti. Thus the rise and set of these two types of Jñānaśakti result in evolution and involution of Jagat.
