This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 67.34

मृतो व जीर्णो विध्वंसी गुरुवासी च ब्राह्मण ।
एते लोके प्रतिकूला कृष्णसर्पो व रोषितो ॥ ३४ ॥

mṛto va jīrṇo vidhvaṃsī guruvāsī ca brāhmaṇa |
ete loke pratikūlā kṛṣṇasarpo va roṣito || 34 ||

“O brahman, an old man as good as dead, a decrepit man, though he wear the garb of a teacher—these are as disgusting to the world as an angry black snake.” (34)
