This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 64.173

वर्षा सहस्रा मया यो पोषितो हि उच्चतीह अयं मम ज्येष्ठपुत्रो ।
सौ गौतमस्य अभूर् इह अनुयात्रो अवसादयिष्यन्तो समारसैन्यं ॥ १७३ ॥

varṣā sahasrā mayā yo poṣito hi uccatīha ayaṃ mama jyeṣṭhaputro |
sau gautamasya abhūr iha anuyātro avasādayiṣyanto samārasainyaṃ || 173 ||

“He whom for thousands of years I have brought up, he, my eldest son, now deserts me. Now is he become a follower of Gotama, ready to ruin Mara and his host.” (173)
