This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 52.142

होहिन्ति कपिलनगरे तूर्यशतनिनादितानि भवनानि ।
आनन्दप्रमुदितानि प्रहसितनरनारिसंघानि ॥ १४२ ॥

hohinti kapilanagare tūryaśatanināditāni bhavanāni |
ānandapramuditāni prahasitanaranārisaṃghāni || 142 ||

“In the city of Kapila the houses will resound to the music of a hundred instruments, with throngs of men and women laughing, beside themselves with joy. (142)
