This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 27.41

यो च भूमिपतिर् देव धर्मेणानुशासति ।
राष्ट्रं स्य स्थावरं भवति ऋद्धं स्फीतं जनाकुलं ॥ ४१ ॥

yo ca bhūmipatir deva dharmeṇānuśāsati |
rāṣṭraṃ sya sthāvaraṃ bhavati ṛddhaṃ sphītaṃ janākulaṃ || 41 ||

“But, sire, the realm of the king who rules righteously is strong, prosperous, flourishing and populous. (41)
