This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 11.45

नयनयज्ञं मेधाविं व्यक्तं नायकध्वजं चातुर्द्वीपं ।
परिणायकरतनवरं प्रतिलभति महीपतिः विरतो ॥ ४५ ॥

nayanayajñaṃ medhāviṃ vyaktaṃ nāyakadhvajaṃ cāturdvīpaṃ |
pariṇāyakaratanavaraṃ pratilabhati mahīpatiḥ virato || 45 ||

The mighty lord, free from desire, wins also the fair treasure of the counsellor, who is a wise leader, prudent and skilled, who is the guiding standard of the four continents. (45)
