This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 2.55

प्रतापनस्मिं नरके तीक्ष्णशूला अयोमुखा ।
महतो अग्निस्कन्धस्य पर्वतो भयभैरवः ॥ ५५ ॥

pratāpanasmiṃ narake tīkṣṇaśūlā ayomukhā |
mahato agniskandhasya parvato bhayabhairavaḥ || 55 ||

In the hell Pratapana there are creatures armed with sharp pikes, and having jaws of iron. There is a fearful mountain, one great solid mass of fire. (55)
