Yoga Vasistha [sanskrit]

223,437 words | ISBN-10: 8171101519

The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.213.31

यन्नाम सच्चिदाकाशं सर्गप्रलयरूपि तत् ।
तदुःखायापरिज्ञातं परिज्ञातं परः शमः ॥ ३१ ॥

yannāma saccidākāśaṃ sargapralayarūpi tat |
taduḥkhāyāparijñātaṃ parijñātaṃ paraḥ śamaḥ || 31 ||

The vacuous entity of the supreme intellect, which exhibits the phenomena of creation and its destruction (in repeated rotation), abounds with our misery only, if we attend to its occurrences with any degree of concern; but it does not affect us at all, if we can but remain altogether unconcerned with its casualties.
