The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

यदि सप्रतिघं वस्तु वेल्लत्यप्रतिघात्मकम् ।
कथं संवित्तिमात्रेण पुंसः शैलो न वल्गति ॥ ८ ॥

yadi sapratighaṃ vastu vellatyapratighātmakam |
kathaṃ saṃvittimātreṇa puṃsaḥ śailo na valgati || 8 ||

Should the subtile intellect, be capable of moving the solid body at its will; then tell me sir, why cannot a man move a mountain also by his own will?
