The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.144.45

नियतिर्नायकश्चैव ब्रह्मतश्चाङ्गमात्मना ।
स्वाङ्गेन संयमयति करेणेव निजं करम् ॥ ४५ ॥

niyatirnāyakaścaiva brahmataścāṅgamātmanā |
svāṅgena saṃyamayati kareṇeva nijaṃ karam || 45 ||

The destined decree of providence, is the leader of all events in the world; it is as one part of the body of Brahma, by which he represses the other part of himself (i.e. his will); as we restrain the action of one hand by the other.
