The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.95.16

मम न ब्रह्मतापेता तादृग्व्यवहृतेरपि ।
असंभवादन्यदृशो युष्मदादिष्वहं त्वहम् ॥ १६ ॥

mama na brahmatāpetā tādṛgvyavahṛterapi |
asaṃbhavādanyadṛśo yuṣmadādiṣvahaṃ tvaham || 16 ||

As for myself I could not attain to Brahmahood, though I practiced the rules for obtaining my liberation; and being unable to attain a better state, I have become the sage Vasishtha as you see before you.
