The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.81.9

मिन्नाञ्जनतमःश्यामा यामिनोवाकृतिं गता ।
तमःश्रीर्देहयुक्तेव साकारेवाम्बरद्युतिः ॥ ९ ॥

minnāñjanatamaḥśyāmā yāminovākṛtiṃ gatā |
tamaḥśrīrdehayukteva sākārevāmbaradyutiḥ || 9 ||

She was as inky black as pasted pitch, and as dark as the darkest night or Erebus; and with her body of darkness visible, she appeared as the image of primeval night.
