The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.68.31

यत्सुखं दुःखमेवाहुः क्षणनाशानुभूतिभिः ।
अकृत्रिममनाद्यन्तं यत्सुखं तत्सुखं विदुः ॥ ३१ ॥

yatsukhaṃ duḥkhamevāhuḥ kṣaṇanāśānubhūtibhiḥ |
akṛtrimamanādyantaṃ yatsukhaṃ tatsukhaṃ viduḥ || 31 ||

That which is commonly called pleasure or pain, is but a fleeting feeling in the mind of men, and is of a short duration; it is that unfeigned and lasting peace of mind, which has neither its rise or fall, that is called true happiness.
