The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.55.9

आदिसर्गे हि चित्स्वप्नो जाग्रदित्यभिशब्द्यते ।
अद्य रात्रौ चितेः स्वप्नः स्वप्न इत्यपि शब्द्यते ॥ ९ ॥

ādisarge hi citsvapno jāgradityabhiśabdyate |
adya rātrau citeḥ svapnaḥ svapna ityapi śabdyate || 9 ||

The dormant Intellect (or the sleeping soul of God), is said to be awakened in its first acts of creation; and then follows the inaction of the intellect, which is the sleep and night of the soul.
