The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.53.55

आत्मैवेदं जगद्रूपं हन्यते हन्ति वात्र किम् ।
शुभाशुभैर्जगद्दुःखैः किमस्यार्जुन लिप्यते ॥ ५५ ॥

ātmaivedaṃ jagadrūpaṃ hanyate hanti vātra kim |
śubhāśubhairjagadduḥkhaiḥ kimasyārjuna lipyate || 55 ||

The divine soul being manifest in the form of the world, say what can it be that destroys or is destroyed in it; and tell me, Arjuna, what can it be that is subject to or involved in pleasure or pain.
