The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.6.28

स्पन्दमात्रार्थमेवाशु दृश्यन्ते नार्थकारिणः ।
तर्जनं गर्जनं मूढाद्धनुर्दण्डगुणादिव ॥ २८ ॥

spandamātrārthamevāśu dṛśyante nārthakāriṇaḥ |
tarjanaṃ garjanaṃ mūḍhāddhanurdaṇḍaguṇādiva || 28 ||

Their continued motion is of no real good to themselves, but brings on their quietus like the calm after the storm; they clash and clang like the twang of the bowstring, without the dart to hit at the mark.
