The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

त्यजदेवानुगृह्णाति वृत्तीरिन्द्रियवर्धिताः ।
यस्मान्निवार्यते तस्मिन्प्रोन्मत्त इव धावति ॥ १४ ॥

tyajadevānugṛhṇāti vṛttīrindriyavardhitāḥ |
yasmānnivāryate tasminpronmatta iva dhāvati || 14 ||

Though I refrain from the exercise of my external faculties, yet it pursues them with eagerness, and runs towards the objects from which I try to stop its course.
