The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

पूर्वं यस्यास्तु तृष्णाया वर्तमानेऽपि शाश्वती ।
निर्दुःखता निष्कलता सा मुक्तेति बुधैः स्मृता ॥ ६ ॥

pūrvaṃ yasyāstu tṛṣṇāyā vartamāne'pi śāśvatī |
nirduḥkhatā niṣkalatā sā mukteti budhaiḥ smṛtā || 6 ||

Want of greediness and anxiety prior to and on account of some gain, and absence of mirth and change in one's disposition afterwards (i.e. after the gain); is the true freedom of men.
