The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.21.37

मायैषा सा ह्यविद्यैषा भावनैषा भयावहा ।
संविदस्तन्मयत्वं यत्तत्कर्मेति विदुर्बुधाः ॥ ३७ ॥

māyaiṣā sā hyavidyaiṣā bhāvanaiṣā bhayāvahā |
saṃvidastanmayatvaṃ yattatkarmeti vidurbudhāḥ || 37 ||

The wise have styled our consciousness of the world as a magic scene (maya), an appearance of ignorance—avidya, a mere thought (bhavana), and the cause and effect of our acts.
