The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.95.21

कर्मणो जायते जन्तुर्बीजादिव नवाङ्कुरः ।
जन्तोः प्रजायते कर्म पुनर्बीजमिवाङ्कुरात् ॥ २१ ॥

karmaṇo jāyate janturbījādiva navāṅkuraḥ |
jantoḥ prajāyate karma punarbījamivāṅkurāt || 21 ||

Acts are the causes of animal births, as the seed gives birth to the sprouts of plants; and again works proceed from living beings as the sprouts produce the seeds.
