The English translation of the Sri Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu verse 4.3.23; a medieval era Sanskrit book, written by Rupa Goswami (fl. 15th century) which represents a devotional (bhakti) masterpiece. In this work Goswami describes the nature and different forms of pure love (rasa) as well as various other topics on Vaishnavism and devotion.

Sanskrit text, Unicode transliteration and English translation:

सहायेन सहजोत्साह-रतिर्, यथा —
सङ्ग्राम-कामुक-भुजः स्वयम् एव कामं
दामोदरस्य विजयाय कृती सुदामा ।
साहाय्यम् अत्र सुबलः कुरुते बली चेज्
जातो मणिः सुजटितो वर-हाटकेन ॥४.३.२३॥

sahāyena sahajotsāha-ratir, yathā —
saṅgrāma-kāmuka-bhujaḥ svayam eva kāmaṃ
dāmodarasya vijayāya kṛtī sudāmā |
sāhāyyam atra subalaḥ kurute balī cej
jāto maṇiḥ sujaṭito vara-hāṭakena
||4.3.23||

English translation

Natural enthusiasm for battle, with additional encouragement:
“Expert Sudāma with arms eager for battle had sufficient strength to conquer Kṛṣṇa in battle. If he were to take the help of strong Subala, he would be like a jewel set in gold.”
