Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. परीतबुद्धिर्हि विसंज्ञकल्पो दुर्योधनो नाभ्यनन्दद्वचो मे ।
स शेष्यते वै निहतश्चिराय शास्त्रातिगो भीमबलाभिभूतः ॥ ३५ ॥

parītabuddhirhi visaṃjñakalpo duryodhano nābhyanandadvaco me |
sa śeṣyate vai nihataścirāya śāstrātigo bhīmabalābhibhūtaḥ || 35 ||
