Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. निष्टनन्ति च मातङ्गा मुञ्चन्त्यश्रूणि वाजिनः ।
पानीयं यवसं चापि नाभिनन्दन्ति माधव ॥ ११ ॥

niṣṭananti ca mātaṅgā muñcantyaśrūṇi vājinaḥ |
pānīyaṃ yavasaṃ cāpi nābhinandanti mādhava || 11 ||
