Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. आनयेह सुतं क्षिप्रं राज्यकामुकमातुरम् ।
न हि राज्यमशिष्टेन शक्यं धर्मार्थलोपिना ॥ १० ॥

ānayeha sutaṃ kṣipraṃ rājyakāmukamāturam |
na hi rājyamaśiṣṭena śakyaṃ dharmārthalopinā || 10 ||
