Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. तस्मात्ते वचनं देवि करिष्यामि न संशयः ।
सप्तर्षयो मां वक्ष्यन्ति सर्वे ब्रह्मर्षयस्तथा ।
पश्य माहात्म्यमस्माकमृद्धिं च वरवर्णिनि ॥ १९ ॥
