Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. सोऽभ्यगच्छन्महातेजास्तानृषीन्नियतः शुचिः ।
भ्रातृभिः सहितो धीमान्धर्मपुत्रो युधिष्ठिरः ॥ ३१ ॥

so'bhyagacchanmahātejāstānṛṣīnniyataḥ śuciḥ |
bhrātṛbhiḥ sahito dhīmāndharmaputro yudhiṣṭhiraḥ || 31 ||
