Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. न्यायेनोत्तरकालं च गृहेभ्यो निःसृता वयम् ।
धर्मदृष्टैर्विधिद्वारैस्तपस्तप्स्यामहे वयम् ॥ ३० ॥

nyāyenottarakālaṃ ca gṛhebhyo niḥsṛtā vayam |
dharmadṛṣṭairvidhidvāraistapastapsyāmahe vayam || 30 ||
