Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. संरक्ष्यमाणः पार्थेन शरीरे फल्गुनस्य ह ।
मन्यमानः स्ववीर्यं तन्मागधः प्राहिणोच्छरान् ॥ १४ ॥

saṃrakṣyamāṇaḥ pārthena śarīre phalgunasya ha |
manyamānaḥ svavīryaṃ tanmāgadhaḥ prāhiṇoccharān || 14 ||
