Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. अर्जुन उवाच ।
को न्वसौ ब्राह्मणः कृष्ण कश्च शिष्यो जनार्दन ।
श्रोतव्यं चेन्मयैतद्वै तत्त्वमाचक्ष्व मे विभो ॥ ४४ ॥

ko nvasau brāhmaṇaḥ kṛṣṇa kaśca śiṣyo janārdana |
śrotavyaṃ cenmayaitadvai tattvamācakṣva me vibho || 44 ||
