Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. स जीवः प्रच्युतः कायात्कर्मभिः स्वैः समावृतः ।
अङ्कितः स्वैः शुभैः पुण्यैः पापैर्वाप्युपपद्यते ॥ २८ ॥

sa jīvaḥ pracyutaḥ kāyātkarmabhiḥ svaiḥ samāvṛtaḥ |
