Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. यत्र सा बदरी रम्या ह्रदो वैहायसस्तथा ।
यत्र चाश्वशिरा राजन्वेदान्पठति शाश्वतान् ॥ ३ ॥

yatra sā badarī ramyā hrado vaihāyasastathā |
yatra cāśvaśirā rājanvedānpaṭhati śāśvatān || 3 ||
