पतत्-खड्गश् चलच्-चर्मा
भुज-बन्धाद् बलाद् बली
विनिर्ययौ तार्क्ष्य-तुण्डात्
पुण्डरीको यथा फणी
patat-khaḍgaś calac-carmā
bhuja-bandhād balād balī
viniryayau tārkṣya-tuṇḍāt
puṇḍarīko yathā phaṇī
patat—falling; khaḍgaḥ—sword; calat—moving; carmā—shiled; bhuja-bandhāt—from the bondage of His arms; balāt—forcibly; balī—strong; viniryayau—e4scaped; tārkṣya-tuṇḍāt—from Garuḍa's beak; puṇḍarīkaḥ—Pundarika; yathā—as; phaṇī—the snake.
English translation of verse 5.8.24:
Fighting with his sword and shield, Kaṃsa escaped Lord Kṛṣṇa's arms as the snake Puṇḍarīka escaped Garuḍa's beak.
