अग्रहीत् सहसा कंसं
दोर्भ्यां चर्मासि-सम्युतम्
यथा तुण्ड-विभागाभ्यां
स-विषं फणिनां विराट्
agrahīt sahasā kaṃsaṃ
dorbhyāṃ carmāsi-samyutam
yathā tuṇḍa-vibhāgābhyāṃ
sa-viṣaṃ phaṇināṃ virāṭ
agrahīt—grabbed; sahasā—suddenly; kaṃsam—Kaṃsa; dorbhyām—with both arms; carmāsi-samyutam—with sword and shield; yathā—as; tuṇḍa-vibhāgābhyām—with his beak; sa-viṣam—poisonous; phaṇinam—snake; virāṭ—Garuḍa.
English translation of verse 5.8.23:
As Kaṃsa tried to defend himself with sword and shield, Lord Kṛṣṇa suddenly grabbed him with both arms as Garuḍa grabs a poisonous snake in his beak.
