This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 53.53

स्यामे थ पश्य दानिं काशिवर्धन सत्यप्रतिज्ञो भवेसि ।
तं मे गुरूसु पारिचर्याये जनाधिप भविष्यति ॥ ५३ ॥

syāme tha paśya dāniṃ kāśivardhana satyapratijño bhavesi |
taṃ me gurūsu pāricaryāye janādhipa bhaviṣyati || 53 ||

“Then do you, who bring prosperity to Kashi, take heed that you have made a promise to Shyama. By that promise you will see to the care of my venerable parents. (53)
