bhikṣū bhagavantam āhansuḥ // buddhiviśeṣeṇa bhagavān* śakuntabhūto mārasya hastagato vaśagato paṃjaragato mukto // bhagavān āha // anyadāpi buddhiviśeṣeṇa etasya mārasya hastagato vaśagato karaṇḍakagato mukto // bhikṣū āhansuḥ // anyadāpi bhagavaṃ // bhagavān āha // anyadāpi bhikṣavaḥ //
___bhūtapūrvaṃ bhikṣavo atītam adhvānaṃ nagare vārāṇasī kāśijanapade paripātrikā nāma nadī // tasyā kūle aparamālākārasya vanamālaṃ / asau dāni mālākāro mālasyaiva taṃ velaṃ vanamālam āgatvā puṣpāṇi udviciya puṣpakaraṇḍakam ādāya mālākāraṇāto nirdhāvati grāmābhimukho ca prasthito // tato ca nadīto kacchapo uddharitvā gomayaṃ bhakṣayati tasya mālākārasya avidūre // so taṃmālākāreṇa dṛṣṭo / tasya etad abhūṣi / śobhano mama ayaṃ adya kacchapo olaṃko bhaviṣyati // tena dāni taṃ puṣpakaraṇḍaṃ ekānte sthapiya so kacchapo gṛhīto // so taṃ tahiṃ puṣpakaraṇḍe prakṣipati / taṃ ca so kacchapo mānuṣikāye vācāye āha // imāhaṃ kardamamrakṣito tato mayetaṃ puṣpaṃ kardamena vināśiṣyati / atra me udake dhovitvā karaṇḍe prakṣipa / tad ete puṣpā na vināsyanti // so dāni mālākāro paśyati // śobhano khalv ayaṃ kacchapo gacchāmi taṃ atra udake dhovāmi / tato eṣā puṣpāṇi na vināśiṣyanti kardamena // so paitṛkaviṣaye śuṇḍikāpaṃcamāni aṃgāni prasāretvā tasya mālākārahastāto bhraṣṭo // tahiṃ udake gāḍho tāye nadīye avidūre taṭam udetvā taṃ mālākāraṃ gāthāye dhyabhāṣati //
