The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.175.31

दृश्यमस्य समुन्मेषो दृश्याभावो निमेषणम् ।
एकमेतन्निराकारं तद्द्वयोरप्युपक्षयात् ॥ ३१ ॥

dṛśyamasya samunmeṣo dṛśyābhāvo nimeṣaṇam |
ekametannirākāraṃ taddvayorapyupakṣayāt || 31 ||

Its glancing causes the visibility of creation, and its winking makes it invisible or extinct to view, while the want of both these acts (opening and closing of its sight), is tantamount to the formless void of the world.
