The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.83.1

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
चिन्मात्रपरमाकाश एष यः कथितो मया ।
एषोऽसौ शिव इत्युक्तस्तदा रुद्रः प्रनृत्यति ॥ १ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca |
cinmātraparamākāśa eṣa yaḥ kathito mayā |
eṣo'sau śiva ityuktastadā rudraḥ pranṛtyati || 1 ||

Vasishtha added:—I have already related to you, that Siva is the representation of the vacuous intellect; but not so is Rudra, whom I have described as dancing all about.
