Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

सपक्षपर्वताकारतरङ्गापूरिताम्बराः ॥ ३७ ॥

praluṇṭhitavanavyūhalūnakānanitāmbarāḥ |
sapakṣaparvatākārataraṅgāpūritāmbarāḥ || 37 ||

The overflowing waters covered the woods, both in the earth and air; and the overspreading waves filled the skies like the winged mountains of yore.
