The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.28.5

अवासनं हि संवित्तेः स्पन्दमस्पन्दनं विदुः ।
सस्पन्दोऽप्यस्फुरत्स्पन्दो येनावर्तादिनोह्यते ॥ ५ ॥

avāsanaṃ hi saṃvitteḥ spandamaspandanaṃ viduḥ |
saspando'pyasphuratspando yenāvartādinohyate || 5 ||

The insouciance or want of desire in the mind, is called its negative act, and the mind that merely moves on without engaging in any pursuit, is as a current stream without its undulation.
