The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 6.126.4

चलार्णवयुगच्छिद्रकूर्मग्रीवाप्रवेशवत् ।
अनेकजन्मनामन्ते विवेकी जायते पुमान् ॥ ४ ॥

calārṇavayugacchidrakūrmagrīvāpraveśavat |
anekajanmanāmante vivekī jāyate pumān || 4 ||

Such a man of the world bears his resemblance to a tortoise, which though it has its neck well hid in its shell, still stretches it out to drink the salt water of the sea it inhabits; until after many births, he gets a better life for his salvation.
