The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

अयःशलाकोपमयोर्घटादीन्द्रिययोः किल ।
अश्लिष्टयोरन्तरसौ कथं तन्नोदिता मिथः ॥ ७ ॥

ayaḥśalākopamayorghaṭādīndriyayoḥ kila |
aśliṣṭayorantarasau kathaṃ tannoditā mithaḥ || 7 ||

The relation between outward objects and the organs, is as that of the magnet and iron, which attract one another without their coming in contact together. But how is it that the small cavities of the organs could let into the mind such prodigious objects that surround us on all sides.
