The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

परिस्फुरत्यपर्यन्ता हृदयोन्मूलनोद्यता ।
आक्रन्दकारिणी क्रूरा भावाभावविषूचिका ॥ ८ ॥

parisphuratyaparyantā hṛdayonmūlanodyatā |
ākrandakāriṇī krūrā bhāvābhāvaviṣūcikā || 8 ||

The cares of prosperity and adversity, are the tormenting cankers in their breasts, and they pierce and perforate the hearts to such a degree, as they are intent upon uprooting them from their innermost recesses.
