The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

विनेशुर्जनतास्तत्र बह्वयः क्षुत्क्षामजीविताः ।
ज्वलिते विपिने वह्नौ यथा भूतपरम्पराः ॥ ११ ॥

vineśurjanatāstatra bahvayaḥ kṣutkṣāmajīvitāḥ |
jvalite vipine vahnau yathā bhūtaparamparāḥ || 11 ||

It destroyed a great number of his people, who were exhausted by hunger and debility; as a conflagration destroys the unnumbered living animals of the forest.
