The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

विचारयति संसारं सुखदुःखसमन्वितम् ।
आशापाशशतैर्बद्धं रागद्वेषभयातुरम् ॥ ४१ ॥

vicārayati saṃsāraṃ sukhaduḥkhasamanvitam |
āśāpāśaśatairbaddhaṃ rāgadveṣabhayāturam || 41 ||

He beholds the world as a vale of misery, with very little of happiness in it; and where the soul is fast bound to its alternate passions, and led by the changes of its hopes and fears.
