The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.32.27

भ्रमयत्यपरिज्ञानान्मृगतृष्णाम्बुधीरिव ।
महतोऽपि पदादेवं नानाज्ञानवशादधः ॥ २७ ॥

bhramayatyaparijñānānmṛgatṛṣṇāmbudhīriva |
mahato'pi padādevaṃ nānājñānavaśādadhaḥ || 27 ||

It is the ignorant only that are tempted to vanity by their error, as they are led to the delusion of water in a mirage; and so the great also are liable like these demons, to fall low from their high stations by their error.
