The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

वासनावेशवैवश्यं भावयन्विषयाशयः ।
दीनतां परमामेति परिलूनमिवाम्बुजम् ॥ ३८ ॥

vāsanāveśavaivaśyaṃ bhāvayanviṣayāśayaḥ |
dīnatāṃ paramāmeti parilūnamivāmbujam || 38 ||

He whose mind is unsubdued, and full of desires and temporal cares and anxieties, becomes as distressed as a lotus torn from its stalk.
